Jasper Berg, Mitbegründer einer Softwarefirma, wird in seinem Ferienhaus ermordet aufgefunden. Die Kommissare Hansen und Kaya nehmen umgehend die Ermittlungen auf. Tillmann Rieger, mit dem er das Unternehmen aufgebaut hatte, gerät in den Fokus der Kommissare. Denn am Tatort wird ein anonymer Hinweis gefunden, dass Tillmann sich hinter Jaspers Rücken mit dessen Frau Judith in einem Rosenheimer Hotel getroffen hatte. Haben die beiden Jasper auf dem Gewissen? Jasper steht seinerseits unter Verdacht, eine Affäre mit der Feldhockeyspielerin Sarah Würzinger gehabt zu haben.
Ihr Verein wird von Jaspers Firma gesponsert. Die Cops bekommen bei ihren Ermittlungen unverhofft Unterstützung von Controller Donato, der früher ein exzellenter Feldhockeyspieler war und nun beim Hockeyverein kurzfristig als Trainer einspringen soll. So findet er heraus, dass Dirk Dellmer, der Geschäftsführer des Vereins, Sponsorengelder veruntreut hat. Musste der Sponsor sterben, weil er Dellmer auf die Schliche gekommen war?
