BiographyJamie Lee Curtis (born November 22, 1958) is an American actress, producer, and children's author. Known for her performances in the horror and slasher genres, alongside multiple comedies, she is regarded as a "scream queen". As of 2023, her films have grossed over $2.5 billion at the box office. Curtis has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as a nomination for a Grammy Award.

The youngest daughter of actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, Curtis made her screen debut in a 1977 episode of the television drama Quincy, M.E. Her film debut came the following year when she starred as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's Halloween (1978). A critical and commercial success, the film established Curtis as a prominent figure in the horror field, leading to headline parts in The Fog, Prom Night, and Terror Train (all 1980). She would reprise the role in six of the Halloween sequels, concluding with Halloween Ends in 2022.

Curtis's film work spans many genres outside of horror, including the comedies Trading Places (1983), for which she won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress, and A Fish Called Wanda (1988), for which she was nominated for the BAFTA for Best Actress. Her role as a fitness instructor in Perfect (1985) brought her a reputation as a sex symbol. She later won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work as Helen Tasker in James Cameron's True Lies (1994). Curtis's portrayal of Deirdre Beaubeirdre in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) earned her multiple accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other film credits include Blue Steel (1990), My Girl (1991), The Tailor of Panama (2001), Freaky Friday (2003), Christmas with the Kranks (2004), Knives Out (2019), and The Last Showgirl (2024), for which she garnered her fourth BAFTA nomination.

Curtis won her first Golden Globe for her portrayal of Hannah Miller on the sitcom Anything but Love (1989–1992), and was nominated for the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work in the television film Nicholas' Gift (1998). She also starred in the satirical slasher series Scream Queens (2015–2016), earning her seventh Golden Globe nomination. For the recurring role of Donna Berzatto in the psychological dramedy series The Bear (2022–), she won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress. Curtis has written numerous children's books that have made The New York Times's best-seller list.
