BiographyHannah Dakota Fanning (born February 23, 1994) is an American actress. She is known for her roles in blockbusters and independent films, both as a child actress and as an adult. Her accolades include nominations for a Golden Globe Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Fanning received recognition at the age of seven for playing Lucy in the drama film I Am Sam (2001), earning a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role; she became the youngest nominee in SAG history. Fanning then starred in the science fiction miniseries Taken (2002), and in the feature films Uptown Girls and The Cat in the Hat (both 2003), Man on Fire (2004), Hide and Seek and War of the Worlds (both 2005), Charlotte's Web (2006) and The Secret Life of Bees (2008). She transitioned to mature roles with The Twilight Saga (2009–2012), and the independent films The Runaways (2010) and Night Moves (2013).

She has also starred in the television series The Alienist (2018), The First Lady (2022) and The Perfect Couple (2024). Fanning starred in the supernatural horror fantasy film The Watchers (2024) and received renewed critical recognition for her role in the neo-noir psychological thriller miniseries Ripley (2024), which earned her Golden Globe Award and Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
