The daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, as a child, she played a minor role in her then-stepfather Antonio Banderas's directed Crazy in Alabama (1999). Johnson had her breakthrough playing the lead role in the erotic Fifty Shades film series (2015–2018), for which she received a MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance nomination.
