BiographyPablo Larraín Matte (Spanish pronunciation: [laraˈin]; born 19 August 1976) is a Chilean filmmaker. He first gained international recognition for films examining Chilean history and the legacy of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, including Tony Manero (2008), Post Mortem (2010), No (2012), and El Conde (2023). He also directed Jackie (2016), Spencer (2021), and Maria (2024), a trilogy centered on prominent women of the twentieth century. No was the first Chilean film nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, while Larraín and his brother Juan de Dios co-produced Sebastián Lelio's A Fantastic Woman (2017), which became the first film from Chile to win the Oscar in that category. In 2021, Larraín directed the Apple TV+ psychological romance horror miniseries Lisey's Story.

Larraín won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize for The Club at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, and he and Guillermo Calderón won the Best Screenplay award at the 80th Venice International Film Festival for El Conde.
