BiographyGjert Arne Ingebrigtsen (born 12 January 1966) is a Norwegian athletics coach. In Summer of 2026, he has again received accreditation as a coach for the Portuguese national team, this time at the 2026 European Athletics Championships. He coaches José Carlos Pinto and Patrícia Silva, as of Q3 2026.
He is also known for coaching (until 2022), his sons Henrik, Filip, and Jakob, all of whom became international middle-distance runners. He has also coached athletes including Narve Gilje Nordås, Kieran Lumb, Maël Gouyette and Per Svela, until 2026.
Since 2023, Ingebrigtsen's eligibility for accreditation at international competitions has been the subject of a dispute with Norwegian athletics authorities. The Norwegian Athletics Association has declined to accredit him, citing its responsibility to provide athletes with a safe environment. In December 2025, however, he received accreditation as a coach for the Portuguese national team.
