In a game of hide-and-seek, human kids try out for a place at the newly reopened Howlington, while a giant spider plays it's own game of hunt-the-werewolf.

While the new Howlington students learn the ropes, Wendy finds a future newspaper from the past and teams up with Cripp to prove they are valuable members of the HBI.

Werewolf Hunters invade Howlington and inadvertently discover a mysterious portal in the catacombs. Is this where all the strange creatures are coming from? And where are the twins?

Freddy leads a rescue team back in time to find the twins. They meet Freddy's ancestor, Tora, and discover the evil truth about Hath and her book of magic.

In Svenberg, Tora is challenged for the right to lead the pack by her life long rival, Ruel. To retain her leadership, she'll need Freddy and the gang's help.

Ruel challenges the Howlington kids to a Svenbergian survival challenge, but Ivan sneaks back to Milford, where Gretchen is having a hard time herself figuring out the future.

With the portal broken, the kids are stuck in the past and must retreive the pack's moonstone from a gigantic werebear, in order to restore the rings.
