Season 8
Is set 18 months after Season 7 ended. It begins at 4:00 p.m. Jack is brought in by CTU to uncover a Russian plot to assassinate Islamic leader Omar Hassan during peace negotiations with U.S. President Taylor. Russia's contingency plan involves engineering a dirty bomb, which Islamic extremists threaten to detonate unless Hassan is handed over. Jack seeks retribution for personal losses suffered after Charles Logan convinces Taylor to cover up these crimes to protect the peace agreement. Jack becomes a fugitive from Russian and American governments and disappears.

Jack is drawn back into the homeland-security business when Middle Eastern leader Omar Hassan comes to the U.S. on a peacekeeping mission as the eighth season opens in New York.

Jack works with CTU after meeting up with an operative who has information on a planned assassination.

Hastings ignores a lead that Chloe develops but Jack follows it, and Ortiz and Walsh wonder whether Hastings is dropping the ball and Jack and Chloe are on the right track.

The plot to assassinate Omar Hassan is set into motion.

Jack reteams with agent Renee Walker (Annie Wersching), and President Taylor learns of a larger threat to the fragile peace process.

Renee Walker must broker a deal with a ruthless arms dealer, which stirs up some ghosts for her. Meanwhile, Chloe gives Arlo Glass his comeuppance; and turmoil in the Hassan family jeopardizes the peace process.

Renee works undercover on a mission concerning Vladimir, but Jack thinks it's too dangerous. Meanwhile, President Taylor seeks answers from President Hassan; and Dana tries to get her ex-boyfriend into a police warehouse.

While nuclear materials are en route to Kamistanis attempting a coup, Kayla confronts her father, Dana makes a decision, and Jack endures torture.

President Taylor tries to push the peace process forward, but the possibility of massive failure looms, prompting some to look for scapegoats.

President Taylor's idealism is criticized as the threat of attack undermines her vision for global peace. Meanwhile, Taylor gives Jack a crucial assignment, and adviser Ethan Kanin returns to her staff.

President Hassan makes a decision that shocks his family. Meanwhile, Jack alerts President Taylor about Weiss; and Jack begins to think that there is a mole inside CTU.

A traitor makes a deal for immunity. Jack and Rene then race uptown to rescue a hostage, while President Taylor looks into contingency plans in case things end badly for the hostage.

Day 8: 8:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M.
Gregory Itzin returns to the cast as Charles Logan, the former president we loved to hate, and he insinuates himself into President Taylor's moribund peace process. Meanwhile, a rare emotional move by Jack sparks catastrophe; and Chloe is given new responsibilities at CTU.

Day 8: 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M.
Jack is out for revenge, and President Taylor has mixed emotions as the peace process moves forward, but with former President Logan as a player at the negotiating table.

President Taylor enlists a private security firm led by Mark Bledsoe to assist in the crisis, and Jack calls in a marker from old friend Jim Ricker during a crucial mission.

Jack is hell-bent on avenging the loss of his partner, Renee Walker, and President Taylor fights to keep the fragile peace process alive.

Jack Bauer goes rogue to discover who's behind the day's despicable events.

With three hours to go, Jack's mission makes life difficult for President Taylor as she prepares for a signing ceremony. Meanwhile, Chloe leads CTU on a collision course with Jack; and President Logan meets a formidable foe.

Dalia learns the truth about her husband's assassination and won't sign the peace agreement. Meanwhile, Jack uses Pillar to gain access to the UN and readies to assassinate the Russian president.

In the Season 8 finale, President Taylor focuses on the peace treaty to the exclusion of all else; and Jack takes matters into his own hands.
