48 HOURS launches its 38th season with the case of 17-year-old Benjamin Elliott, who stabbed his twin sister - a crime with no known motive. His defense team says he was sleepwalking when he killed her.

A wife calls 911 to report her husband missing. Police then discover his lifeless body in his car, parked inside a corporate parking garage. The first clues to solving the mystery come from the very cameras the killer tried to cover up. Security footage shows a masked man in a yellow hard hat carrying a can of blue spray paint, attempting to conceal his crime. 

After her husband is found with a fatal injury at the foot of the stairs, a woman is accused of murder and fights to clear her name. Alison Davis says she woke up to find her husband, Kevin, critically injured, and she insists he fell down the stairs. But police say an autopsy revealed inconsistencies that led them to a different conclusion. Alison Davis always maintained her innocence and was in the fight of her life to defend herself.

Hannah Pettey, a young mother from Alabama, suffered debilitating pain and lost more than 45 pounds in the months prior as her health rapidly declined. Years later, investigators uncover disturbing new evidence that challenges Bruno Rocuba's story, including surveillance audio capturing his wife's final moments. When Debe Atrops was murdered, her daughter, Rhianna Stephens, was just 8 months old. More than 30 years later, a cold case team from Washington County took a fresh look at the case by talking to witnesses and running new tests on old evidence. The team thought they had enough to prosecute Debe's estranged husband at the time of her murder, Bob Atrops, who is also Stephens' father. Stephens is convinced they have the wrong man – after losing her mother, she fears losing her father too. 

The investigation into Katlyn's death, which was initially reported as a medical emergency after her 4-year-old daughter found her unresponsive. Evidence soon revealed she had been strangled with phone charging cables in what prosecutors called a "cold-blooded and calculated" attack following a recent breakup.

On Dec. 23, 2023, police were called to a Texas home where two teenagers had been shot. Eighteen-year-old Ethan Riley died from his injuries, while 19-year-old Ben Bliek survived. Their friend, 17-year-old Connor Hilton, was arrested and later confessed to the shooting. Hilton and his parents sat down for an exclusive interview with 48 HOURS. He claims the shooting was triggered by a reaction to a popular prescription acne medication, saying it caused him to experience homicidal thoughts. Prosecutors, however, reject that explanation and say the evidence points elsewhere. 

In 1969, 17-year-old Mary Kay Hesse was stabbed to death in Wahoo, Neb. – a crime that haunted the community for decades. 48 HOURS first began reporting on the case in 1999, capturing interviews and material that, until now, had never aired. For more than 50 years, the murder remained unsolved. But advances in investigative techniques and renewed focus by law enforcement helped piece together long-overlooked evidence, ultimately leading to an arrest. 48 HOURS correspondent Natalie Morales reports on how the murder of Mary Kay Hesse was finally brought back into focus in "The Girl from Wahoo."
