Episode 1

The first of BBC Wales's four-part, character-and-story-led series that chronicles summer 2012 in Wales. There's cause for celebration on the tiny north Wales tidal island of Cribinau, where one adventurous bride and groom are set to wed. But with guests warned to bring wellies, will time and tide play ball? In west Wales, it's make or break for first-time hoteliers Owen and Philippa Gale. They've invested their life savings into transforming a tired country hotel into a luxury retreat. But do these novices have what it takes to survive in the competitive world of hospitality? To the east, on the border with England, we meet the 'hands on' Lady Linlithgow, battling to preserve her ancestral seat. Far to the south, at Three Cliffs Bay campsite on the Gower Peninsula, the hardy lovers of life under canvas battle a mini monsoon. Meanwhile, in the Ely Valley, the residents of Pritchard Street celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in traditional style.
