Episode 2

As Wales endures its wettest early summer since records began, the grey skies and heavy rain fail to deter our overseas visitors. The largest cruise liner to visit our shores docks in Anglesey's Holyhead harbour; on board, three-and-a-half thousand American visitors all planning to 'do' north Wales in a day. Far to the south, the Cleaner Cardiff Cleansing Team goes into deep clean mode in preparation for an Olympic event-filled summer. Whilst in Barry, we dive headlong into the world of the modern TV tourist. At Bryngwyn Hall, can Christine the cook's home baking cut the mustard? Meanwhile in west Wales, at Philippa and Owen Gale's newly refurbished Hammet House, they're about to host their first wedding reception of the summer. With their life savings invested in the business, it's make or break as the novice hoteliers go all out to create a suitable impression.

King and Conqueror is the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties, struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no design on the British throne, who found themselves forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for possession of its crown.
