Amadeus - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Episode 1
Gifted composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart moves to Vienna, destined for success and falling in love with soprano Constanze Weber. He soon meets esteemed court composer Antonio Salieri and secures his first opera commission from Emperor Joseph II. But when Salieri hears his music, he publicly dismisses Amadeus' talent, who in turn mocks Salieri's sexual stiffness. Maddened, Salieri then vows to kill Mozart.

Episode 2
After Salieri fails to coerce Constanze into bed in exchange for the pupillage of Princess Elizabeth, he tells her of her husband's adultery. While trying to make peace with his father in Salzburg, Amadeus hears of his infant son's death.

Episode 3
The grief-stricken Mozarts are barely communicating with each other, while Salieri is promoted and assumes more power to pull the strings against Amadeus's success. Receiving another commission, Amadeus is inspired by a contentious banned book, leaving Vienna and Constanze to compose in secret. As war brews, Salieri plants a spy on the Mozarts and then organises a riot at Amadeus's opening night.

Episode 4
The composer debuts Don Giovanni, inspired by his father's death, while Constanze leaves him for her lover. Deciding to finally seal Amadeus's fate, Salieri shuts down Mozart's opera and pursues him to the cheap vaudeville playhouse he has been forced to work in, setting him up for yet another failure.

Episode 5
Constanze finally uncovers the truth about her husband's death and ensures that Mozart is always remembered, and that Salieri is never forgotten.
