E se, de repente, o prédio mais animado de Portugal ficasse sem porteiro? Emílio é operado de urgência ao apêndice e isso muda muita coisa entre os inquilinos: a chegada de um porteiro substituto, de seu nome Alfredo, causa as reacções mais inesperadas. De meia-idade, com bom ar e solícito e amável q.b., Alfredo passa a ser um sucesso entre as moradoras mais velhas. E dá-se o impensável: num regresso à velocidade da luz à adolescência, Palmira, Conceição e Celeste disputam as atenções masculinas do novo porteiro. Entre Gustavo e Fernando as coisas já estiveram bem melhor: o que será que leva Fernando a ter uma revista porno dentro da gaveta? Ele desculpa-se como pode e, de repente, a revista passa a ser de Armando, que não sabe de nada. E Paula, que está acampada em casa de Sofia e Luísa passa a não ser bem-vinda: é que Sofia não acha graça à graça que os homens acham a Paula.
