Whether it’s back-breaking work, extreme weather, mechanical breakdowns or cutthroat competition, prospecting is not for the faint-hearted. But our cast of gold hunters is tough, resourceful and ready for the challenge. Among them is husband and wife team Chris and Greg, the ‘Gold Gypsies’. 2 years ago they walked away from their Brisbane home and construction careers to chase their dream of striking it big, 4000km away. Having spent their life savings to set up their mining operation, the self-taught prospectors’ future rests on gold, for better or for worse… Meanwhile, best mates Vern and Leon, aka the Dirt Dogs, are running a gold operation in which they’ve sunk a million bucks into building what they claim is the ‘biggest dry blower in the universe’ affectionately known as ‘Goldzilla’. Having ploughed a fortune into their season plan, the Dogs are under massive pressure to unearth another, just to break even… Meanwhile, remote prospectors Henri and Kellie are going it alone. Armed with their high tech detectors, the best friends seek their fortune out in the farthest depths of the wild outback – where rival prospectors fear to tread. Follow their journeys and those of people they mingle with in the outback towns of the region, as we capture the daily drama, challenges and the sheer exhilaration of the hunt for AUSSIE GOLD!

Returning to the epic frontier of Western Australia’s Goldfields, our hardcore prospectors face the toughest challenge of their careers; whether it’s fighting to survive, or uncovering colossal strikes, deep in the remote and unforgiving wild terrain. Returning this season are the Dirt Dogs, the Gold Gypsies and Kellie and Henri, but there are also some new faces as two new teams of prospectors and a host of larger than life characters enter the fold; lone wolf Rick Fishers and husband and wife duo Ted and Lecky Mahoney.

Season 3

Aussie Gold Hunters returns for its biggest season yet, following five crews of gold-hungry prospectors who are taking the gamble of a lifetime as they battle to strike it big in one of the harshest environments on the planet; the wild west of outback Australia.

Here the stakes are high. With no regular income these teams must find gold in order to survive financially. And with 1600 new Prospecting Licences issued this season, the competition is at an all time high.

Back in the game is a new look Dirt Dogs led by Top Dog, Vernon Strange who sets a massive $1 million target; Aussie battlers the Gold Gypsies (Christine and Greg Clark) who are facing a do or die season; family team Ted and Lecky Mahoney and their new recruit, 21-year-old daughter Tyler who is switching the catwalks of Melbourne for the goldfields; along with solo prospector, Rick Fishers who is heading deeper into the outback to hopefully uncover a fortune. There are some new faces too, with the introduction of The Scrappers led by Cornwall born and raised Alex Stead who became entranced with gold as a child and has spent the last decade venturing from the UK to Western Australia to prospect.

As the machines roar and the gold tallies soar, Aussie Gold Hunters takes you deep into the remarkable world of gold mining in Western Australia, revealing its historic towns and the legends that truly make it the wild frontier. Pushing harder, further and risking more than ever before to uncover a life-changing strike, it's go time on the goldfields.
