Everyone's shocked when Jake announces that he got married over the weekend to a woman he met at a friend's wedding.

Reggie and Jake help a man who claims to be homeless, but John thinks he's a con artist; Margaret takes a second job caring for a wealthy woman's dog.

John takes Reggie's advice that he should tell women that he's sorry when he disappoints them, only to have it backfire; Jake and Bob switch jobs for the day.

The Buddy System

The Ghost of Christmas Presents
John reluctantly agrees to buy a poor child a Christmas gift and then discovers that he has to deliver it as well; Bob visits his mother who still treats him like a kid.

Another Tricky Day
John's day is filled with wacky people, from two guys who want a prescription for marijuana to a man who is upset when he learns that he isn't dying. Meanwhile, Jake challenges Bob to a game of scrabble.

The Ex-Files
Reggie starts dating one of John's recently divorced friends, but she can't stop obsessing about the guy's former wife.

Barter Sauce
John agrees to give free medical care to Bob, Reggie and Jake in exchange for repairs, food and magazines.

V-Day
John tells a discerning bartender about his horrible day and tries to get out of going to his ex-wife's wedding on Valentine's Day.

It Had to Be Ew
John worries that women no longer find him attractive after Jake's girlfriend makes a disparaging remark to him; Linda fears that a pretty temp is going to replace her.

Let's Talk About Sex
Parents are enraged when they learn that John's talk on nutrition to a class of 8-year-olds turns into a discussion about sex; two cops use the diner for a stakeout.

Picture Imperfect
John is infuriated when an unflattering picture of someone else is published alongside his article in a national medical journal, so he pays the editor a visit; Arnoldo asks Linda out on a date.

Talking Points
When a patient loses the ability to speak, John gets him a machine that talks for him, but the man uses it to lash out at people; Bob turns into an environmentalist to impress a girl; Linda accuses Margaret of stealing her bracelet.

Too Much, Too Late
Reggie is obsessed with helping Jake achieve some of the goals he set for himself in sixth grade, but her good intentions backfire; Linda saves a man's life and then drives everyone crazy with her superior attitude.

John is a reluctant sex therapist for a couple in their 80s; Reggie is harassed by a man trying to sell her a new freezer.

Parannoyed
John grows paranoid after his laundry, mail and apartment are tampered with, and the sunny disposition of a new woman (Nancy Travis) at the diner only makes him feel worse.

John receives eight expensive steaks from a patient and is compelled by his new neighbor into throwing a party.

Much Ado About Nothing (1)
Reggie gets jealous when she assumes John has feelings for a new neighbor and tries to tell him how she feels; Linda sublets her job to a woman even more incompetent than she is.

Everybody Loves Becker (2)
The fourth season concludes with a romantic cliffhanger as Reggie and a new neighbor each vie for John's affection. Also, Linda takes Margaret out for a night on the town, which Margaret lives to regret.
