Episode 1
The work of the team at the award-winning Royal Jubilee Maternity Service in Northern Ireland. Midwife Deirbhile supports mum Sindhura and her husband Harish, who have moved from India where they had their first child. However, this is the first time Harish will be allowed to attend the birth of his baby. Nikita and James arrive for an elective C-section, having previously lost a baby at 24 weeks. To make matters worse, James is squeamish and prone to fainting. Will he make it through the birth to cut the umbilical cord?

Episode 2
Natalie goes into a long labour with her second child, this one conceived through IVF, but her and partner Eddie struggle as the labour covers the day and night shifts of midwives Suzanne and Janet. Azza has to be induced but while husband Adam is working away from home in Cork a turn in the health of mum and baby calls for an emergency C-section. Midwife Alex supports Stacey through a very emotional labour.

Episode 3
Childhood sweethearts Margaret and Ryan are expecting their second child but when baby Arthur is born, midwife Alex is concerned he needs extra care. Farmers Louise and Colin have twins on the way but the baby girls are sharing an amniotic sac and a placenta meaning there's a high risk they won't survive. Seasoned midwife Naomi prepares Angela and Scott for a planned C-section.

Episode 4
Laura and Andrew met online and are now saying hello to their first baby together. Fatima comes into the unit worried about her high blood pressure leaving Midwife Courtney and Dr Sammy Jo fearing pre-eclampsia. The pair decide to induce her and the rush is on for husband Rahim to arrive in time for the birth. In the Active Birth Centre first time parents Louise and Darragh are hoping for a natural, easy water birth but the baby has other ideas. Midwife Jenna decide to take action.

Episode 5
Naomi's patient comes in for a planned C-section but her platelet levels are concerning. Kelly comes in to be induced after previously suffering from an ectopic pregnancy. When her labour progresses slowly and painfully, the midwives have a decision to make. Midwife Fiona prepares for a speedy delivery with Laura and Mark.
