In the premiere episode, D'Angelo is confronted with the murder of an unknown woman, and also with the disappearing wife of an old friend. The friend, played by George Dzundza, had been a colleague of D'Angelo's on the New York force.

Three rather ordinary men are mysteriously killed, but in a very professional way. This is the clue that sends D"Angelo (Paul Sorvino) on the hunt for a hit man with some kind of connection with a high authority seeking to eliminate former government informants.

A Noise in the Street
Bert D'Angelo pursues an international hit man and his girlfriend who have been sent to San Francisco to assassinate a husband-and-wife geological team in "A Noise in the Street, on "Bert D'Angelo-Superstar." Saturday, at 10pm.
Although unable to prevent the husband's death, D'Angelo sets a trap for the hit man, Derek Cobb, which backfires when Cobb manages to escape and takes refuge in a church where he holds a priest hostage. Bert is then faced with the possibility that Cobb will be permitted to go free in order to save the priest's life. Paul Sorvino stars as police detective Bert D'Angelo.

A Concerned Citizen
A truck-hijacking ring turns to murder and Bert is assigned to break it up before the next deadly haul.

The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia.
