Detective Cormack tackles two separate missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs, who disappeared from her own 21st birthday party in 2003. And the other is personal, as Cormack searches desperately for his own younger brother, who went missing when they were children.

In 2003 Zoe Jacobs disappeared during her 21st birthday party. Many believe that Zoe ran away but others suspect she was murdered. When police officer Sam Kahlil discovers Zoe's blue backpack, Detective James Cormack is called in to investigate.

Hope
New evidence gives Nadja and Sam hope that Zoe is still alive. But as Cormack puts together a timeline of Zoe's disappearance, the old theory that Zoe drove to Brisbane doesn't add up.

Ghost
Cormack invites Sam to examine the contents of Zoe's backpack and probe her memory for clues. Re-examining CCTV footage from the night she disappeared, Cormack discovers Zoe actually drove to Xanadu, the rural property where Joseph was living.
