On the anniversary of his mother's death, Ichigo intends to take the day off from Soul Reaper duties and visit her grave with the rest of his family, but Rukia is at the cemetery waiting for him. She hears how his mother died and has some suggestions to offer him.

Ichigo faces the Grand Fisher, a Hollow that uses a lure in the shape of a little girl, who Ichigo recalls with shock as the same girl he saw when his mother died. He attacks the Hollow in a rage, making him an easy target.

When television hero Don Kanonji schedules a live recording of his show "Spirit Hunter" at a local abandoned hospital, Ichigo is surprised to see that an actual demi-Hollow is being summoned for the show.

The Legendary Quincy
Rumors spread about Ichigo and Rukia's relationship when they keep dissappearing from school to respond to Hollow alerts. Overworked and frustrated, Ichigo is unaware that one of his classmates, Uryu Ishida, possesses spiritual powers of his own.

In order to prove how useless Soul Reapers are, Uryu releases bait to draw Hollows to their town. Whoever gets rid of the most wins the challenge, but soon Hollows are everywhere, including one that threatens Chad and Ichigo's sister.
