When Charlie Xie, the son of a prominent real estate developer, turns up dead, Detective Jo Bradley gets her first case as lead – the same day she also receives devastating personal news.

Episode 2
As the Xie family struggles to accept Charlie's death, Jo finds evidence pointing to the killer, though the motive remains hidden.

Episode 3
Jo and Gorski catch a break in the case, forcing the Xies to close ranks on the investigation. Jo's cancer is interfering with her work and Teresa's condition worsens.

Episode 4
The Xie family struggles to make sense of Charlie's murder while Jo and Gorski look to Anna and James as suspects. Jo feels the pressure of being primary detective and Gorski's starts to recognize that something is seriously wrong with his partner.

Episode 5
Losing patience with Jo's inexperience, Gorski presses to take over the investigation. Time is running out and Lt. Chu is anxious for answers.

Episode 6
Charlie's funeral brings out the worst in the Xies and a terrible secret comes to the surface. Ron Xie confronts Jo but ends up revealing more than he intended.

Episode 7
The cops focus on Paul and Ron as lead suspects and hatch a plan to draw the killer out. Jo visits her mother to ask questions about her past and lies to her about her cancer diagnosis instead. The Xie family secret begins to unravel.

Episode 8
The truth about Charlie's murder is revealed, and the family must decide how to move forward. A race to catch the killer ensues. Jo makes a decision that will change her life forever.
