Jumping Tracks
Eager to do her part for the war effort, rich young socialite Gladys Witham joins the secretarial pool at Victory Munitions. However, she is quickly drawn to the Blue Shift women who work on the factory floor, knowing full well her class-conscious parents would disapprove of any move by her to take on such a dangerous job.

Misfires
When a factory worker ends up in the hospital after a faulty test-bomb explodes, the manager tries to pin the blame on the Blue Shift. While their leader, Lorna Corbett, and their materials controller, Marco Moretti, conduct their own investigations, Gladys tries to get the women to stand up for their rights. Meanwhile, new hire Kate Andrews moves to protect her false identity.

How You Trust
A surprise inspection puts Victory Munitions employees under the gun, giving Lorna an opportunity to finally rid the factory of Marco, and Gladys must defend herself against a thief to prove an accused Kate's innocence.

Bringing Up Bombshell
After the Blue Shift claims the honor of building Victory Munitions' millionth bomb, a film crew arrives to shoot a recruitment newsreel, and management chooses tough-talking farm girl Betty McRae as its star. Gladys finally confronts fiancé James Dunn about his past.

Armistice
Lorna learns that her war-hero son Stanley will speak at the upcoming Armistice Day ceremony, James realizes that Gladys has secrets of her own, and the glamorous Vera Burr must decide whether she is going to help a friend or help herself.

Element of Surprise
Unaware that their daughter is working on the factory line, Gladys's parents pay an unexpected visit to Victory Munitions. Lorna grapples with a possible pregnancy, and Betty encourages Kate to stand up to her abusive father. News of an attack on Pearl Harbor puts everyone's challenges into perspective.
