Episode 1

In the first episode we are with Kharn and Holly from Chester Troop bomb disposal as they are called to a recycling plant in Bolton. A live grenade has been discovered on the sorting line. The item has been hit by machinery, making it extremely dangerous and leaving our team facing a very volatile bomb.
In Warrington, Jon and Sam rush to a 999 call from a homeowner who has uncovered a bomb in his back garden. It's dark so the work must be carried out by torch light, but the rain means that the compound inside the bomb is more risky.
In Manchester the bomb disposal squad is called to Trafford after builders uncover a strange looking bomb. Local homes are evacuated, and the streets are closed down, as the emergency services battle to keep the public away from the site. The object is big, so it has to be x-rayed in two parts before the team know exactly what they are facing.
While in Afghanistan, Kim Hughes discovered a new tactic with pressure plate IEDs, and with a unit trapped in an area littered with devices he needed to work fast to diffuse the bombs and extract the soldiers.
In London, 1983, the IRA used Semtex in a car bomb that destroys part of Harrods. Six people were murdered in the attack and a further 90 were injured. We hear first-hand accounts of what happened on that day from both a surviving victim and a serving police officer who was quickly at the scene.
