Season 1
Ba Woo is a degenerate man. He gambles, steals, fights and will do bossam (customary remarriage procedure where a widow is kidnapped) for money. He hides his real identity. While performing a bossam, he mistakenly kidnaps Princess Soo Kyung. She is the daughter of Prince Gwanghae and the daughter-in-law of his enemy Lee Yi Chum. For a secret political agreement, she married the older brother of a man she loved, but, on the day of her wedding, her husband died. She then became a widow.

Yi I Cheom orders his guards to find his missing daughter-in-law; he faces the difficulty of the search.

Ba Wu and Su Gyeong escape Yi I Cheom's guards with Dae Yeop's help; Su Gyeong sneaks into the palace.

Su Gyeong sees no other option but to end her life by jumping into the river, but Ba Wu saves her.

Dae Yeop asks Su Gyeong to return, but she refuses; guards sent by Yi I Cheom kidnap Su Gyeong.

King Gwanghae plans to pressure Yi I Cheom; Yi becomes even more determined to find Su Gyeong.

Ba Wu and Dae Yeop save Chun Bae; Ba Wu learns that Dae Yeop's father is their family enemy.

Dae Yeop informs I Cheom about Gwanghae-gun and Kim Gae Si's search for Su Gyeong and the cotton thread.

Ba Wu rescues Su Gyeong and they escape together; in Jemulpo, Ba Wu seeks a lucrative job.

I Cheom pursues Ba Wu, but Ba Wu steals an important letter meant for the Ming Dynasty from I Cheom's son.

Su Gyeong's book reaches Gwanghae-gun, but Ba Wu is mistakenly arrested; they reunite tearfully in Guan-ah.

Gwanghae-gun stays composed, aware of Ba Wu's identity; Kim Ja Jeom unveils Su Gyeong's ledger.

Episode 13
Ba Wu and Dae Yeop take the state exam; Ba Wu survives a close-range attack with Kim Ja Jeom's help.

Episode 14
Won Yeop smuggles silk and kills Ba Wu's brother-in-law; Ba Wu shoots at Dae Yeop.

Episode 15
Gwanghae-gun blames Ba Wu for the Ming's demands; I Cheom plots his assassination through Dae Yeop.

Episode 16
Ba Wu and Dae Yeop get captured by Qing soldiers who find Yi I Cheom's secret letter.

Episode 17
Su Gyeong's survival surprises Yi I Cheom; seeking safety, Su Gyeong takes refuge with the Ba family.

Episode 18
Dae Yeop reveals his desire to become king to Haeindang; Haeindang criticizes his impulsive decision.

Episode 19
Su Gyeong escapes with Dae Yeop's help; Su Gyeong tends to the injured Dae Yeop at Haeindang.

I Cheom is trying to put Dae Yeop on the throne; Ba Wu and Su Gyeong are trying to find a way to stop him.
