Episode 1

Return of the series following specialist letting agents trying to keep both private landlords and tenants happy. As council housing shrinks, Britain's two million private landlords have been buying up houses. More of their tenants than ever before are on benefits and as austerity and changes to the benefits system bite, many are falling into arrears. Letting agencies specialising in housing benefits now find themselves on the front line. In the North East, ex-pub landlord Rob McKenzie has found his own way of dealing with tenants who abandon properties leaving behind a trail of destruction and owing thousands of pounds in rent. Young agent Caroline is new to the job and finds herself drawn into tensions on a street in Hartlepool, where one of her tenants is causing problems for the neighbours.
