A young couple is leaving their Air Force positions to build a log cabin together and start a new life in the last frontier of Alaska. With only three weeks to make it ready before the winter, they'll need all the family, friends and determination they can muster to get it done. Follow their journey as they endure the elements and long northern days to handcraft their new home from the ground up and completely off the grid.

Montana Earth Home
A couple builds their dream home in a remote canyon just north of Yellowstone National Park in Montana; they create an earthen home suited to the climate; they'll navigate the hardships of their remote setting while surrounded by stunning views.

Ken and his crew transport tons of building materials to the remote island and attempt the impossible task of constructing an off-the-grid luxury getaway with the warm Caribbean water just steps away.

Underground Living
Specialty builders Jon and Amanda D'Aleo design and build "earth-sheltered" homes for clients in southern Colorado, but they weren't expecting a project this far off the grid. They'll have to work overtime to get a house constructed and buried before the Colorado winter hits.

Cob Cottage
After years of apprenticing for natural builders, Sonia Havill is putting her skills to the test by building her first house: an off-grid cob cottage on top of an Oregon mountain. She enlists the help of friends and family, but her lack of experience and the Pacific Northwest's notorious rainy season could wash away her dream.

Mushroom House
Sage Stoneman is on the hunt for new ways to build off-grid homes that not only use natural building materials but blend them seamlessly into their environment. He teams up with world-renowned natural builder SunRay Kelley to experiment with a never-before used building material: mushrooms! Follow along as they not only design a mushroom-shaped house but virtually grow one.
