He visits the vast Crossrail boring machines burrowing their way under London's streets, takes in the breathtaking views at top of the Forth Road Bridge, and sees the teeming runways of Heathrow Airport from the tarmac.

Evan Davis asks whether we are on the verge of a new golden age of infrastructure. From the Olympic Park to High Speed 1, Evan looks at how we have learnt from our mistakes to become a nation which is once again rediscovering its skill for epic engineering.
