Canada: A People's History - Season 5

A new chapter in the landmark series first broadcast on CBC TV at the turn of the century, these two new episodes of Canada: A People's History cover some of the most dramatic changes of the past quarter century. It is history in the making, told through personal accounts from ordinary – yet extraordinary – people from across Canada.

Viewers will hear the stories of people who were swept up by life-changing historic events or who took tremendous risks to change the way we live today. Angulalik Pederson is a young Inuit scientist trying to understand the impact of climate change. Colette Roy Laroche is the Lac Megantic mayor who kept the community together after one of the worst tragedies in Canadian history. Audrey Rivers is a survivor of residential schools who is now inspiring her grandson to save a dying language. Monia Mazigh is a Muslim immigrant who was forced to become a human rights activist when her husband was wrongly imprisoned after 9/11. By their actions, determination and commitment, these people have helped to shape the face of Canada as it is today.
