Car Crime UK - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Cars, Keys and Criminals
Trevor McDonald presents an insight into specialist police car crime teams operating across the UK, focusing in the first episode on criminals breaking into houses to steal keys to expensive vehicles. Officers in the Tameside area of Greater Manchester raid the home of a serial car thief, while police in Devon and Cornwall tackle the problem of drug dealers who use stolen cars to transport their illegal goods.

Faking It
Trevor McDonald looks at how police in Manchester are dealing with the increase in criminals who change the identities of stolen cars before selling them to the public or using them to commit further crime. Masked men in a stolen Golf GTI are chased by officers in Stockport, and an operation is launched in Devon and Cornwall to catch a drug dealer.

Drugs, Drunks and Dogs
The Intercept team in Cornwall recruits a sniffer dog to search a suspect's car and finds drugs to the value of £2,000, and officers in Tameside, Greater Manchester, chase a driver who refuses to stop. However, the biggest discovery is in the centre of Manchester, where a raid on a huge cannabis factory leads to one of the largest hauls of its kind in the city - thousands of plants worth more than £1million.

Vans, Bikes and Teenage Tearaways
Trevor McDonald follows police teams across Britain as they target prolific offenders, witnessing officers in Manchester embark on a dangerous high-speed pursuit before raiding the house of a serial criminal. In Edinburgh, police stop two suspected car thieves and are on the trail of a teenager with a reputation for stealing motorbikes.

Something to Hide
Trevor McDonald follows police as they track down serial car criminals who go to great lengths to avoid being identified. The team in Stockport carries out a morning raid on the flat of a prolific car thief after linking him to DNA left at the scene of the crime. In London, police intercept teams use number-plate recognition technology to target drivers taking to the road without insurance.

Burglars, Dealers and Dodgy Geezers
Trevor McDonald follows the Neighbourhood Task Force in Stockport, Greater Manchester, in an operation to catch a seven-strong gang of burglars. Across town, officers stop a known persistent offender driving a stolen truck with no tax or insurance, and in London the police are on the trail of drug dealers who use their cars to ferry illegal substances around the city.
