Michelle Williams and her fiancé, pastor Chad Johnson, were about to start planning their wedding. But after Michelle checks herself into a hospital for depression, their road to the altar becomes fraught with obstacles.

Fish Out of Water
In an effort to start rebuilding their relationship, Chad and Michelle travel to meet Chad's family in his small, rural hometown in Colorado. Michelle worries she might not fit in, and things get complicated when a dispute about race arises.

Family Matters
Chad's sister and her baby come to L.A., giving Chad a chance to play uncle, while Michelle hopes to resolve possible tension between her and her future sister-in-law. In therapy with Dr. Thema, Chad confronts troubling memories from his childhood.

Career Opportunities
Michelle pours herself back into her work. Chad contemplates accepting a job offer because he has so many other transitions going in his life. Michelle seeks advice from pastors' wives about becoming a First Lady.

Nurse Chad
A tense therapy session raises questions about Chad's role in the relationship, Michelle's self-care. Michelle returns to the studio, while Chad plans a sermon. Chad and Michelle meet with another couple who offer inspiration as well as a challenge.

One Last Twerk
Chad and Michelle are dealing with their wedding date argument, but head off to South Carolina for a busy weekend full of friends and ministry events. While there, Michelle worries about living up to the first lady expectations she has for herself.

Let's Talk About Sex, Maybe
Chad and Michelle enter the second-to-last Dr. Thema session, and their confidence in setting a wedding date is tested by the "Sex and Intimacy" theme. A visit by their moms, meeting for the first time, adds to the awkwardness and stress.

To Be or Not to Be
Michelle and Chad preach together at a local church. After urging from his friends, Chad is finally ready to set a date for his wedding to Michelle. As plans are being made, someone close to the couple throws doubt on their impending marriage.
