Cristo y Rey - Season 1

Ángel Cristo finds his circus drowning in debt. Bárbara Rey may be able to help secure the circuses future, but Ángel begins to suspect that more is going on than there appears to be.

Ángel persists in persuading Bárbara to participate in the special; weary of perpetually playing second fiddle to every man who shows interest, Bárbara confronts Juan Carlos I.

Ángel and Bárbara begin their special rehearsals. Their growing attraction is palpable, yet both feel hesitant due to Ángel's respect towards Renata and Bárbara's connection with Juan Carlos I.

Ángel and Bárbara's engagement and Bárbara's decision to leave her career for Ángel causes apprehension on the part of the King and Chelo; Chelo suspects that Ángel is hiding much more than what seems to be the case.

As she adjusts to circus life, Bárbara wishes to be more than just a performer and so she begins taming the elephants. Ángel tries to come to terms with Bárbara's past and her long list of ex-lovers.

Ángel's bout of jealousy and violence brings forth Bárbara's childhood memories as she renounces a failed marriage. Ángel attempts to export his circus and close a deal with the Arabs.

In 1987, Ángel and Bárbara's children, Angelito and Sofía, are the sole reason that's keeping their marriage afloat. When Ángel puts Sofía in danger, Bárbara gives him an ultimatum.

Ángel and Bárbara fight for custody of their children. To ensure victory, Ángel buys the participation of anyone who favours Bárbara. Desperate, Barbara turns to Juan Carlos I.
