Fingal
Pauline Scanlon and Aoife Ní Bhriain celebrate the music and ancient culture of Fingal from the Irish Institute of Music and Song in Balbriggan. For Aoife, it's a happy homecoming to her native county, as she performs with her father, legendary piper Mick O'Brien. A lively night of music sees the great Leslie Dowdall join our hosts on-stage, while dance troupe ProdiJIG, rapper JyellowL and balladeers Sean Fitzgerald and Daragh Lynch head an eclectic line-up. Meanwhile, Aoife goes in search of Fingal's ancient roots, meeting the county's famous Mummers along the way

Pauline Scanlon and Aoife Ní Bhriain head to Tipperary, where legendary comic Pat Shortt plucks up his sax to play alongside Mike Hanrahan at The Thatched Cottage near Nenagh. Eilish Hassett joins Pauline on a soulful version of The Galtee Mountain Boy, while the In Tune for Life Orchestra and Edel Meade wow a live crowd. Meanwhile, Aoife meets up with the great Gemma Hayes, who explains how the raw beauty of rural Tipperary has influenced her music. Aoife also takes a crash-course in Tipperary's equine and apple-growing heritage and tries her hurl at the poc fada with Brendan Cummins
