David and Mia
David (Will Mellor) is a lorry driver from Yorkshire making his first foray into online dating. When he meets Mia (Oona Chaplin), a beautiful unknowable siren, he quickly realizes that he might have bitten off more than he can chew.

Jenny and Nick
Jenny (Sheridan Smith) is a lonely primary school teacher recovering from a disastrous broken relationship. Nick (Neil Maskell) is a city boy richly endowed with both cash and secrets. On their first date they find out everything there is to know about each other, and knowing everything can be a dangerous and unpredictable business.

Mia and Stephen
Mia (Oona Chaplin) is putting herself around town. Stephen (Ben Chaplin) is a disenchanted surgeon with a surfeit of self-regard who doesn't know what he is looking for. When Mia gets under his skin, he realises that there might be more to himself than good looks and a high flying career.

Erica and Kate
Erica (Gemma Chan) is a beautiful young lesbian girl who can't pluck up the courage to tell her traditional Chinese family who she really is. When she meets confrontational, enigmatic Kate (Katie Mcgrath), Gemma realises that she can't continue hiding herself away.

David and Ellie
Lorry driver David (Will Mellor) is trying to put the hypnotic spell of Mia behind him. But meeting Ellie (Montanna Thompson) who has comprehensively lied about her age, and is not the solution he is looking for. She's far too young, honest and insightful for David's comfort. And she's got some truths to tell which he doesn't want to hear.

Erica and Callum
Coming out to her brother hasn't gone well for Erica (Gemma Chan). He has reacted by setting her up on an internet date with garrulous, unmarriable Scotsman Callum (Greg McHugh). The date starts badly and quickly becomes disastrous, but somehow a weird kinship emerges.

Stephen and Mia
Stephen (Ben Chaplin) is waiting for Mia (Oona Chaplin) to turn up for a naughty afternoon in a London hotel. But as he waits and waits, Stephen starts to wonder if he's been stood up. He finds himself on a surprising and unexpected journey towards self-discovery, aided by a straight-talking stranger.

Jenny (Sheridan Smith) is giving online dating one last try. And it seems, when she meets Christian (Andrew Scott), that her prayers have been answered. He's witty, charming and sexy. But there's a part of Christian which he's only ready to reveal when he's reeled in his catch.
