Episode 2
David's mother has died and his future rests in the hands of his stepfather, Mr. Murdstone, who has no love for him.

Episode 3
David has been adopted by his Aunt Betsey and educated at her expense. At a coach station he meets by chance his old friend and protector, Steerforth.

Episode 4
David, articled to a law firm, has fallen in love with Dora, his employer's daughter. Steerforth has been introduced to the Peggotty family and has run off with Em'ly.

Episode 5
David and Dora are married and leading a happy life together. Uriah has been exploiting Mr. Wickfield, and David, learning of this, has made an enemy of Uriah by striking him.

Episode 6
Dora's health is causing grave concern. Emily, deserted by Steerforth, has returned to England. Steerforth's whereabouts remain a mystery.
