The Congo Wars, I and II, the Gulf War, the Chechen Wars I and II, the break-up of the Former Yugoslavia and the subsequent wars began a turbulent 1990's. Terrorism raised its ugly head - again - with the Oklahoma Bombing, and East Timor broke away from Indonesian control. Nelson Mandela was released from jail, and Bill Clinton led the USA. The Middle East continued its fractious politics, and Hurricane Andrew swept over Florida. Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed die in Paris, Mother Teresa dies in India, and the Chunnel is opened between England and France. And that's only part of the 90's.
