Charleston City Eats
Kardea Brown and her bestie are combining their love of food and shopping with a beautiful afternoon at the historic Charleston City Market. After grabbing a few goodies downtown, Kardea heads back home to prepare a meal that incorporates the flavors of Charleston, including Pimiento Cheese Straws, Boiled Peanut Salad, Low Country Seafood Perloo and Hummingbird Bars with Candied Pecans.
Friday, Fish and Friends
Kardea Brown's Grandma Josephine and her girls, Miss Carolyn and Miss Evelyn, never miss the chance to gather on a Friday night for a traditional Southern fish fry. Kardea is giving them a week off by joining the fun and bringing their classic Friday meal of Fried Whole Red Snapper with Creole Gravy, Oyster Rice, Citrus Pound Cake with Blood Orange Curd and Hurricane Punch.
Kardea's Spooktacular Party
Kardea Brown is all dressed up with somewhere to go -- her house! She's hosting her first Halloween in her new home and throwing an all-out party for her friends and family with a menu featuring Pepperoni Mummy Strombolis, Sheet Pan Tomato Soup, Jack-o'-Lantern Jambalaya Stuffed Peppers and Graveyard Ice Cream Pie.
Wine and Dine
Kardea Brown and her mom sign up to compete in a grape stomp at a local vineyard. After they have a blast stomping grapes like Lucille Ball, Kardea makes a wine-inspired meal that includes Steak and Patatas Bravas, Brussels Sprouts and Kale Salad with Green Goddess Dressing, Salted Caramel Pots de Crème and Red Muscadine Sangria.
Fall Fest
Kardea Brown cooks a fall-inspired menu to celebrate her favorite season of all. She's invited friends and neighbors over to celebrate fall, play games and eat her Braised Pulled Pork Sliders with Apple Slaw, Sweet Potato Chips with Sweet and Spicy Mustard Sauce, Spiked Mulled Apple Cider and Apple Cider Donuts with Pumpkin Spice Glaze.
It's a Big Thanksgiving!
After keeping it low key these past few years, Kardea Brown hosts a big Thanksgiving meal with all the fixins'. She serves her family Chicken-Fried Turkey with Spicy Cranberry Sauce, Grandma's Old-Fashioned Baked Mac 'n Cheese, Cream of Collards and Georgia Peanut and Chocolate Slab Pie with Salted Whipped Cream.
Happy Birthday, Bryon!
Kardea Brown celebrates her boo's most recent trip around the sun by cooking up a menu chock full of his favorites, like Collard Green Stuffed Shells, Pear and Glazed Pecan Salad, Cast-Iron Garlic Parmesan Biscuits and Strawberry-Swirl Cheesecake.
Christmas Brunch
Kardea Brown hosts a holiday brunch party for her girlfriends to celebrate before the seasonal rush. The girls catch up over savory Hashbrown Poutine, decedent Eggnog French Toast Bake, Grandma's Fruit Cake and a festive Poinsettia Cocktail.
The Festival Is in Town
The Moja Arts Festival, a celebration of African American and Caribbean art, is in town, and Kardea Brown is excited to experience it with her friend. Afterwards, she cooks up a beautiful meal with foods that reflect the African diaspora, including Callaloo, Senegalese Yassa, Black-Eyed Peas with Smoked Ham Hock and Sweet Plantain Foster.
Bridal Brunch Bites
Kardea Brown is getting married, and her friends and family are throwing her a bridal shower. As every cook in the family does, she brings her own bites of Open-Faced Mini Salmon BLTs, Smoked Ham Salad in Lettuce Cups, Deviled Eggs with Fried Shrimp and Chocolate Coconut Nests.
Aw, Shucks!
It's oyster season in the Low Country, and Kardea Brown has invited a couple of friends over for a classic Southern oyster roast. She gives this classic Southern tradition a light and hearty makeover with her Roasted Oysters with Thai Chili Mignonette, Crab Rangoon Wonton Cups, Easy Brunswick Stew and Slow Cooker Black Cherry Cobbler.
Couples Date Night In
Kardea Brown forgoes the expensive restaurant with a fun date night in! She and her boo invite their favorite couples over for a delicious dinner of Braised Chicken with Onion Gravy, Maple-Roasted Root Vegetables, a Hot Toddy and Fried Rice Pudding Balls.
