With a lot of luck, inspector Sonja Schwarz escapes the assassination attempt of a sniper. However, her husband Thomas, who is sitting next to her in the car, is critically injured. While Sonja, who was in shock, informed her stepdaughter Laura and her grandmother Katharina Matheiner, her boss Matteo Zanchetti investigated the scene of the accident and found a strange clue. At the same time, Jonas Kerschbaumer and his father are investigating the case of a mountain farmer's son who died in an accident. On a rapid descent on a mountain bike, a treacherous nail trap was fatal to him. Meanwhile, Thomas Schwarz continues to fight for his life in the intensive care unit. In order not to idle, helpless waitingbeing convicted, Sonja concentrates on proving the attack to her intimate enemies Stefan and Charlotte Keller.
"Ms. Commissario" is convinced that she should be prevented from further investigations against the two. "Capo" Zanchetti advises Sonja not to get bogged down in something. Because he secretly suspects a different connection: He thinks he recognizes the handwriting of the mafia killer Saffione, whose revenge he has feared for years. In order to stop him, Zanchetti puts pressure on Francesco Rossi, the alleged Mafia governor in Bolzano. A dangerous plan, because Rossi has to choose between loyalty among mafiosi and truce with the detective boss.
