Dr. Tobias Falk is arrested at his own birthday party: According to the indictment, he is said to have actively euthanized a cancer patient; Maria Weinfurtner. Unfortunately, shortly before her death, she had appointed him the sole heir of her property. The judge speaks of "murder for base motives" and sends Tobias to prison for ten years. Tobias 'friend and lawyer Nico Vogler pleads for "miscarriage of justice" and offers the doctor the prospect of an early discharge. But until then, Tobias has to settle in an environment that is unfamiliar to him. From the beginning he was bullied by the turnkey Hollerbach, and cell neighbor Paul Botz first taught him the most important prison rules. During a fight in the large kitchen, Tobias saves the life of a fellow inmate. As a result, the director of the facility, Katja Herwald, presented him with an unusual job offer: Tobias was to take over the infirmary and "work" as a prison doctor. However, that goes against the grain of the experienced nurse Anke Bruchhausen...
