Schumann und seine Kollegen ermitteln zunächst in der Rasur-Fetisch-Szene. Doch der jüngst Ermordete, Patrick Joos, lässt dem Kriminalisten keine Ruhe. Schumann ist von dem Opfer in Bann gezogen. Allen voran dessen komplexes Verhältnis mit Mutter Sabine wie auch die offenbar keusche Beziehung zu Freundin Denise eröffnen Schumann einen differenzierteren Blick auf den Fall. Zudem entgehen Schumann nicht die kleinen Abweichungen der aktuell sichergestellten Beweise von jenen aus den zurückliegenden Monaten. Er spürt, dass er manipuliert wird. Steckt Gerke hinter der ganzen Sache? Was jedoch sollte der bezwecken wollen? Es kommt zum heftigen Streit zwischen den beiden Polizisten. Gleichzeitig beschäftigt sich Schumann immer mehr mit der Person des Opfers. Als plötzlich Maurice Balthasar vermisst gemeldet wird, der exakt dem Beuteschema des Serienmörders entspricht, erhält Schumann neue Anhaltspunkte und kann schließlich auf ungewöhnlichem Weg den Fall lösen.
