Episode 1
When Eben Greyling refuses to go fishing with his benefactor, Van As, the rejection breaks the shackles of a decade-long agreement between Van As and the Greyling family. Plans go awry when the Greylings' attempt to resolve the situation, and the siblings are then forced into returning to the family home. They search for their father, Freddy, who abandoned them when he has hot on the music scene.

Episode 2
Captain Williams arrives at the farmhouse to break the news of the car accident, and Ishara returns to find her siblings making plans after Rosie's loss. Jana partners with Thorne, a scam artist, to sell the farmhouse and escape. Meanwhile, Van As sends a thug to force Freddy out of hiding. When the thug arrives at the house to kidnap Lucy, he is confronted by Ishara.

Episode 3
Thorne invites the family to breakfast so he can announce an offer on the house, but Ishara and Eben contest this decision. When Ishara tries to search for her father, she discovers a link to a woman he was once with called Ella. In the meantime, Van As sends out another thug, who ends up in a violent showdown with Eben in his trailer.

Episode 4
Rosie's funeral draws the community together, but when Freddy doesn't show up, a heartbroken Mack travels to Springbok to find and confront Freddy. Hugo, one of Van As's thugs, threatens Jana and Eben, so Lucy sabotages his truck. Hugo is bitten by a Cape Cobra and ends up crawling through the desert. Upon being saved by a traditional healer, Hugo swears revenge on the Greyling family.

Episode 5
Ishara and Johnny track down Freddy and force him to return to Desert Rose. Williams follows a hot lead on Hugo's abandoned truck back to Van As in Springbok. Eben reunites with his father and confronts him about abandoning them. Thorne appears with news of a sale offer, but Freddy kicks him out the house; however, Thorne takes his anger out on Jana by attacking her.

Episode 6
Williams investigates Thorne's accidental death and finds a link back to Jana. Meanwhile, the clues of the diver helmet lead Williams to Hugo's fishing shack. Lucy has a secret rendezvous with Gus, who eventually unravels at a barbecue and exposes his affection for Lucy. Later, Hugo stakes out the house and ambushes Lucy with a dagger.

Episode 7
When Hugo tries to get away with Lucy, he is thwarted by Piet and Freddy, leading to a violent encounter. Meanwhile, Johnny is determined to get the band back together. He holds auditions for the local musicians and discovers a diamond in the rough. Eben succeeds in persuading Ella to return to Desert Rose, but he meets a young man who will end up being the key to his own redemption.

Episode 8
Lucy discovers that Jana has been having a long-standing affair with Gus, while Johnny helps Ishara face her demons and find catharsis over her mother's death. Freddy performs with the band and the community celebrates. After the gig, however, Freddy is stabbed by Hugo, and the children arrive at the Nama hut to be with their father as he fights for his life.
