Constanze Gräfin zu Mühlenburg ist mit ihrem Familienwappen erschlagen worden. Sie lebte im Stift Greifensteig, einer Pension für verarmte Adlige. Die Kommissare Hansen und Kaya ermitteln. Zunächst gerät der Hauswart des Stifts, Ingmar Loibl, in den Fokus der Ermittler, denn er baut in der Anlage Cannabis an, und die Gräfin war ihm auf die Schliche gekommen. Wollte Ingmar Loibl einer Anzeige entgehen, indem er sie getötet hat? Eine andere Spur tut sich auf, als sich herausstellt, dass auch eine Bewohnerin des Stifts, Friederike Freifrau von Wilms-Hohenlohe, von dem Cannabis-Handel profitiert.
Hat die Freifrau die Gräfin ermordet, um sie nicht an dem Gewinn beteiligen zu müssen? Und was hat es mit Leonardo Prinz von Rothe, dem Freund aus Kindertagen der Gräfin, auf sich? Er ist nach vielen Jahren aus dem Ausland zurückgekehrt und tat scheinbar alles, um die Gräfin nicht treffen zu müssen. Achtziger und Marie wollen derweil die Kulturstiftung Bogenbender als Sponsor für die Musikakademie gewinnen und treffen deren Kulturmanagerin Wiebke Diepenbrock. Gleichzeitig will Dr. Baumgartner ein altes Kino fördern lassen. Wiebke merkt rasch, dass ihr neuer Job doch anstrengender ist, als sie dachte.
