Die Spreeus - Season 1

The mysterious Emmie is arrested late one night in the ruins of an old house. Brigadier Rosa Scheffers suspects that something unusual is afoot, and uses the opportunity to re-establish a special unit: Sergeant Beatrice Mack and Colonel Bas Koorts call themselves the "Spreeus". Soon, it appears that Rosa's suspicions were correct.

Emmie's jealous husband, Petrus, tries to convince the Spreeus that she is out of her mind. Bas suspects he is not telling them the full story, and a supernatural encounter confirms his suspicions. Beatrice remains skeptical, and Bas's attempts to convince her almost lead to fatal consequences for Emmie. A tribute to CJ Langenhoven's classic short story.

Beatrice befriends Rasheeda, a Bo-Kaap widow who is about to be evicted by developers. When she tries to help, the Spreeus discover that Rasheeda has a visitor from the distant past - and that she will not let herself be shunted around so easily.

The Spreeus are called in to investigate a fatal accident in the Karoo. They find a broken town, struggling to deal with years of road deaths. What's more, the accident - and the mysterious hitch-hiker who caused it - threaten to destroy a young couple's relationship. Bas and Beatrice decide to take a drive themselves.

A reality show in a haunted house takes a nasty twist when one of the participants, Lea, claims that her life is being threatened. The Spreeus begrudgingly spend a night in the house. They discover that the threat is not only to Lea, but to everyone inside.

When the producers of the reality show announce that the participants are to have a séance, doors are opened that should perhaps have remained closed. Bas and Beatrice do their best to protect the participants, while a fearsome army of ghosts claim their revenge.

Something unholy is brewing on the slopes of the mountain. Children disappear, drawn by a mysterious ice cream truck and a man disguising himself as a woman. Bas and Beatrice are stuck, until help comes from unexpected places.
