Dirty Britain - Season 2

Season 2
Filthy Britain SOS

Episodes

Episode 1
Following the hidden army of enforcement teams aiming to clean up the country, including internet entrepreneur Martin, and his partner-in-grime Glen, who have had enough of the fly-tippers plaguing their beloved Hampshire countryside and have decided to fight back using all means at their disposal. In the North East, the Howdon Sewage Treatment plant not only cleans over 12,000 litres of waste water a second, but even manages to turn it into a gas used to heat homes across the region. But to do it, head honcho Tony has to make sure his plant remains blockage free under a constant assault from wet wipes, sanitary products, false teeth and even the occasional 20ft python.

Episode 2
A dodgy scrap dealer is spotted up to no good in County Durham, but his attempt to flee the grime scene is captured in evidentially invaluable technicolour. In Surrey, a pair of water engineers head out to tackle the damage caused to the UK's sewer system by some of the 11 billion litres of effluent flushed down British U-bends every day, while Malvern's enforcement officers Dan and Jude spend their days hunting for fly-tippers and rubbish dumpers, but need to get their prevention message across in a different way.

Episode 3
Internet entrepreneur Martin and his partner in grime Glenn hear about a huge fly-tipping operation blighting a remote Hampshire beauty spot, and raise a small army of volunteers who roll up their sleeves to sort it themselves. Meanwhile, the UK's network of motorways and A-roads rely upon a system of lay-bys to help keep drivers safe, but these safe pull-in zones also attract an unsightly collection of filthy behaviour, and it falls to Huntingdon lay-by warriors Clive and Steve to take on the speeding traffic, atrocious weather, drunk drivers - and those people who confuse lay-bys with lavatories.

Episode 4
In Northumbria, a specialist sewage blockage team tackle a series of weather-induced problems, including a manhole spouting wet wipes, a drain blocked by plastic bottles and a poo 'sausage' threatening to send raw sewage back into people's homes. Meanwhile, in Worcestershire, the food inspectors are out in force, conducting a second round of surprise visits on two restaurants that did not quite make the mark last time. With more than 500 deaths a year from food poisoning and more than 7,000 food establishments failing basic hygiene standards annually, the two eateries have their work cut out to satisfy the inspectors.

Episode 5
After a payday weekend of drunken carnage in Bristol, it falls to colleagues Alan and Paul to mop up the six tonnes of kebab boxes, broken bottles, vomit and other unspeakable substances left behind in its wake. Meanwhile, waste enforcement officers in Essex are out to catch the litter louts behind the UK's most commonly dropped item of rubbish - the cigarette butt.

Episode 6
Braintree's waste enforcement officers crack down on dog owners who are leaving the region in a mess. Plus, Malvern waste warriors Dan and Jude hunt down bags of rotten refuse that have been washed into the local waterways.

Episode 7
Oxford litter-picker Gary is shocked when he discovers the biggest collection of used hypodermic needles yet in one of the city's clandestine drug dens, while Walsall assembles a crack clean-up crew to sift through a mound of flytipped rubbish for clues to who dumped it.

Episode 8
Anna and John have to work hard to get to the root of an almighty blockage threatening to send a tsunami of waste gushing into a bungalow. In Lewes, East Sussex, after one of the biggest bonfire night celebrations in the country, filth fighters reveal the trade secrets of clearing up the mess left by the 80,000 revellers.

Episode 9
In Buckinghamshire, a lorry load of potentially hazardous waste has been dumped by the side of a main road.

Episode 10
Newbie Chloe is taken under the wing of experienced enforcers Ian and Anneil as they conduct a street sweep, deep cleaning Hounslow's problem areas.
