Doc faces his first day as Chief. New responsibilities to manage, without ever forgetting the patients; avoid the closure of the department, and guide three new residents.

The "new memory" of Doc, hyper-busy, upsets the balance of the department: Agnese fears that it could destabilize Andrea, while Damiano is worried about how it could impact Giulia.

Doc is looking for new memories, perhaps sensing "the sail" to follow. Giulia faces the problems of the department, and those of her career. A famous travel blogger ends up under Doc's care.

Doc's search is finished: Andrea has perhaps found his "sail". Meanwhile, a baker is hospitalized with strange symptoms. While Riccardo faces a critical case, Federico is under pressure.

A new memory disorientates Andrea: his memory seems to suggest something to him. In the ward, another girl refuses chemotherapy, while Andrea takes care of a well known patient.

After the latest discoveries, Doc sees some certainties about his past collapse. He looks to Giulia for help, but she is confused. In the ward, Martina has to show off her talent with a patient.

The therapy sessions with Enrico seem to have sudden side effects on Doc, who sees his ability to care for patients questioned. And while Agnese seizes the opportunity to nip his research into the past, Giulia is convinced that Andrea must not give up.

Doc finally knows how to track down the woman he's looking for, but he must first find the courage to do it. Meanwhile, Riccardo finds himself dealing with the case of an undisciplined personal trainer.

The fear of discovering the terrible secret lost in his mind pushes Doc to move away from his department. Meanwhile, Enrico has to face the constant assaults of Barbara, Doc's assistant.

Doc and the team must face a difficult challenge: find the diagnosis for a patient before the artificial intelligence does. Meanwhile, Martina and Agnese are called to deal with complex choices.

Agnese's words have created a rift between her and Andrea, who also has to deal with the distance from Giulia, who is traveling to Rome for her research. The situation at the hospital is at its limit: Teresa has to work miracles to find a place for Diana's daughter, a woman Andrea met again after years, hospitalized despite her mother's doubts.

A violent earthquake causes panic at the Ambrosiano, and Lin fears that something may have happened to his family. Ric comes to a decision on the proposal made by Laura, a paralympic swimmer. Federico has to carry out an operation he doesn't feel ready for.

The deadline for submitting the research is getting closer and closer, but Giulia seems to have her mind somewhere else entirely. Even Doc struggles to manage his thousand commitments: there's the meeting with the investors, and then there's Carolina, in town for a few days. However, everything risks being overshadowed when Lin's sister is hospitalized.

Giulia has to make a decision about her personal life that will also have consequences on her career. And while Martina faces the most difficult exam of her life, and Damiano delicately takes care of Elisabetta, Riccardo deals with a case that will force him to deal with Alba's ghost.

March 2011: Andrea is forced to deal with Agnese's illness, but unexpected news from America rekindles hopes. At the hospital, the new Chief struggles with a difficult diagnosis, which will force someone to make a terrible compromise.

The moment of truth has arrived. While Federico faces his last day at the Ambrosiano, and Martina makes a decision that leaves the rest of the team stunned, Doc has to deal with the truth Agnese told him, forcing him to change his perspective on his past.
