Upon arriving at "La Joya," Doménica discovers a dispute with Luis Fernando over the spring and decides to prove to him who the true owner of the land is.

Determined to drive Doménica away, Genaro tries to convince her of how dangerous the town can be, but she makes it clear that she fears no threat.

Luis Fernando is intrigued when he discovers the pain in Doménica's eyes, but Mercedes, blinded by the betrayal of her late husband, asks him to stay away from her.

Kiara and Genaro spread Doménica's past like wildfire throughout the town, hoping to force her to return to Puebla and never come back.

Luis Fernando suffers the loss of his son, taking with him Paula's final gift; but he vows to find the person responsible and make them pay for such a terrible crime.

Kiara decides to get rid of Doménica to take over her fortune, but amid the chaos she meets Luis Fernando and discovers the reason why her cousin distrusts him so much.

Pedro is unjustly arrested for assaulting Osvaldo. Doménica learns of what happened and works hand in hand with Luis Fernando to resolve this injustice, even if it puts at risk the fragile cordiality between them.

Genaro tries to manipulate Doménica to worsen the conflict with Luis Fernando, but he soon discovers that his boss is no longer swayed by anyone - especially men.

Seeing Luis Fernando's difficulties in keeping the hacienda afloat, Pedro covers Doménica's payment to become the new partner and save "Espejo de Luna."

Nicolasa realizes how Doménica enjoys her encounters with Luis Fernando, even though they end in arguments, and warns her that this passionate hatred could turn into love.

Genaro is consumed by jealousy when he finds out that Doménica kissed Luis Fernando and shares his bitterness with Kiara, who discovers that her cousin has once again stolen the love of a man from her.

Doménica finds out that Kiara was also a victim of Max's scam and begins to wonder why her cousin always ends up getting involved with the men in her life.

Luis Fernando proposes to Doménica that they reach an amicable agreement to divide the land, but she begins to suspect that he is only playing with her heart - and Kiara's - in order to scam them.

Things grow tense between Doménica and Pilar, who chooses to leave the hacienda, while Kiara refuses to give up on Luis Fernando and looks for a way to fix their problems.

Luis Fernando and Doménica accept what they feel for each other and decide to be "just good friends." Kiara confronts Doménica for breaking her promise, but when she realizes there's no turning back, she looks for a way to ruin their romance.

While Max fights for his life, Genaro confronts Kiara for betraying their pact and demands a new deal in which she hands over ownership of "La Abandonada."

Confident in Doménica's love, Luis Fernando proposes marriage to her. The news catches some people off guard, as they watch their plans fall apart before their eyes—including Mercedes and her deal with Max.

While Doménica and Luis Fernando celebrate their love, Sangenís obtains the real deeds to the lands of "La Joya," revealing a massive fraud. Mercedes changes her mind and asks Doménica for forgiveness.

Faced with Sangenís's accusations, Luis Fernando must make a firm decision between the law and the woman he loves. Meanwhile, Genaro fears that Cosme could ruin his plans if he reveals their clandestine dealings.

Suspecting Genaro's plans, Doménica decides to fire him from her estate, but he has no intention of standing by while he loses the business he has worked so hard to maintain.

While the town mourns Cosme's sudden death, the police arrive at Doménica's house to arrest her again. Luis Fernando arrives just in time to prove her innocence—will it be enough to show his remorse?

Max decides to take advantage of his new role as a hero to win Doménica back, but he soon realizes that she is no longer the same woman he once fell for so easily. Pilar discovers that Kiara has teamed up with Mercedes to win over Luis Fernando.

Disappointed in Kiara, Doménica suffers as she sees Luis Fernando slipping away. Max manages to help Doménica recover her fortune, earning back her trust.

Luis Fernando returns the engagement ring to Doménica, hoping she can be happy with Max, who does not miss the chance to beg her to get back together. Pedro sets aside his hatred to forgive Prudencio.

Rosita's wish comes true when she sees Luis Fernando and Doménica arrive at the talks for their First Communion, where they learn a valuable lesson about the importance of forgiveness.

Faced with the evidence against him, Max has no choice but to go into hiding, but Doménica gives him one last chance to tell her the whole truth, though not for the reasons he imagines.

Pedro tells Prudencio about the evidence he found against Genaro. Luis Fernando and Pedro talk about Genaro's mismanagement at La Abandonada. Nicolasa and Prudencio decide to move up their wedding.

Luis Fernando discovers Max's true identity, who desperately looks for someone to help him convince Doménica that he still loves her, but he no longer has the support of any of his partners.

The whole town is after Max Langer. Doménica reports Max for the abuse she suffered. San Genis steps aside from Blanca so she can be happy with Ernesto. Pilar asks Mercedes to stay away from Kiara.

The news of Max Langer's death spreads like wildfire throughout Santa Teresa; when it reaches Doménica's ears, she feels sorrow for not having managed to bring justice, but she is also relieved that the nightmare has finally come to an end.

The love between Doménica and Luis Fernando proves to be stronger than it seems. Despite her reservations, Mercedes decides to accept her new daughter-in-law, but Kiara is not willing to give up until she wins the doctor's heart.

Tired of continuing to lie, Kiara confesses the envy that has been consuming her for years. Doménica is horrified to discover that she has been living with her worst enemy, but the time has come to stop her.

Furious, Luis Fernando reproaches Mercedes for the wickedness of Kiara and Genaro; filled with regret, she looks for a way to take revenge and atone for all the pain she caused her son because of a sea of lies.
