Don Matteo - Season 1

Don Matteo arrives to Gubbio to become its priest. Shortly before a Croatian immigrant is found dead. Apparently he has committed suicide but his widow requests Don Matteo's help. He discovers that it may have been homicide.

Don Matteo is falsely accused of having an affair with the wife of a man who is blackmailed. She does not tell the truth to avoid police find out they made a deal with an usurer, forcing the bishop to fire Don Matteo.

A businessman who pollutes water dumping chemicals from his factory is blackmailed. Police arrests a man who threatened him after his cow died from drinking contaminated water. But Don Matteo suspects who is the real blackmailer.

While filming an action movie the main actor is shot dead by someone using real ammunition instead of blank. Don Matteo will prove that a local extra did not do it.

Don Matteo organizes an excursion with the congregation. One of the coaches crashes into a wall and driver's alcohol blood test is positive although he denies drinking. Since he is a former alcoholic he is accused.

An old man living in a retirement home is found dead in the garden. Once known he's been killed Don Matteo will search for the murderer while learning the man's story and his relationship with several Gubbio citizens.

One of Don Matteo parishioners donates a gondola figurine for the church charity auction without knowing her husband hid a valuable diamond in it. He will try to recover it at any cost.

An undercover policeman is unmasked and attacked by drug dealers. Don Matteo and maresciallo Cecchini must discover the carabinieri who betrayed him.
