Alfie and Little Mo are stunned that Kat is back and rush out of the Vic. Little Mo feels that Kat's return changes everything for her and Alfie but he insists that it doesn't. Kat catches up with them and asks to talk to Alfie alone. Alfie tells Kat that she can't keep leaving and expecting everyone to be waiting for her. Little Mo calls on Billy to tell him of Kat's return and he quickly tells her that he is not prepared to cover for her and Alfie. She confesses to him that she kissed Alfie but that's as far as it went. Kat takes Alfie to a club where he tells her about what's been happening since she left. She is delighted to hear about Andy's death but Alfie insists that it doesn't mean they can start over. Kat demands to see Alfie's market stall. She makes him laugh with an imitation of his sales patter. For a minute, he forgets everything and looks at her tenderly but then he remembers his anger.
