Echoes of a Thousand Moons - Season 1

Season 1
As the Battle of Shanghai breaks out, Meng Wanfu, a cook who only wishes to survive, is conscripted by the Kuomintang. Brigade Commander Zhang Yunkui is determined to serve the country, but is trapped in a desperate situation due to his superior's wrong command. Ready to risk it all on the battlefield, Yunkui leads the remaining troops to break through and meet the reinforcements, and entrusts Wanfu to go to Nanjing to report the news of his death. Yunkui miraculously survives, but is slandered as a cowardly general by the Kuomintang. After failing to appeal, he finds hope after meeting Xie Yufeng, the regimental commander of the New Fourth Army. He returns to his hometown to form a civilian militia to fight against the Japanese invaders and joins the Communist Party of China. Meanwhile, Wanfu ends up taking care of Yunkui's family and goes through hardships with Yunkui's wife, Ding Yujiao. Guided by Zeng Xuefei, an underground Communist, the two successively join the communist revolution. At the moment of national crisis, both front-line soldiers and civilians realize that only the Communist Party of China can save the Chinese nation. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, on another Mid-Autumn Festival night when the moon is full, the tenacious Chinese people finally welcome a new dawn.
