Ronald Craven, a Yorkshire policeman is investigating a union election scandal when his daughter, Emma, is shot and killed in front of him. Learning of his daughter's involvement in an ecological group and absolutely determined to trace her killer, Craven goes to London to investigate.

Into the Shadows
Troy Kennedy Martin's award-winning thriller set in a world of obsessive state security and political power play. Craven goes to London to find out more about his daughter's murder, and begins to realise the full extent of her political involvement when he is shown files by the flamboyant CIA agent Darius Jedburgh.

Burden of Proof
Police are closing in on their prime suspect for Emma's murder, but Craven's doubts about the motive for the killing become certainties. Emma's boyfriend is found murdered.

Breakthrough
Craven comes face to face with Emma's killer, but he is shot before he can reveal why he did it. Craven becomes determined to enter Northmoor with the help of Jedburgh and hack into MI5's computer.

Northmoor
Craven and Jedburgh follow the fateful route of the original GAIA expedition, led by Emma Craven, into Northmoor, the secret nuclear facility. But somebody knows what they are up to, and, as Emma and the GAIA team found out, drastic deterrents await unwanted visitors to prevent them reaching the Hot Cell.

Fusion
After being exposed to fatal doses of radiation, Jedburgh heads for Scotland armed with the plutonium. Craven, possessed of the wisdom of GAIA, waits for the inevitable end.
