A girl, dreaming of a fairy tale, went to distant mysterious Russia for great love and happiness. However, here she is destined to face the conspiracies of courtiers and spies, ruthless palace intrigues, the cruel calculations of the empress and the indifference of her future husband. She and then her children are in mortal danger. In order to defend her dream of love, Catherine will have to get rid of the power of people who are trying to destroy her. The die is cast. Catherine begins the fight for the throne. But will she be happy?
