Anne has a tiring trip when she forgets to take off the brakes on her sled. Inga and Hedvig finally arrive at Denali and race to catch up with the others.

An uninvited guest puts the expedition in danger for one of the participants. At Inga and Hedvig's house, some of the food has gone moldy.

Finally, the two teams meet in the mountains. Anne is looking forward to celebrating May 17th, but Inga is impatient and wants to leave.

Hedvig struggles on the steep slopes, but receives little support from Inga. The other team is weather-beaten, but braves the storm on Denali's most dangerous stretch.

A possible fatal accident in the mountains has consequences. Several of the participants are familiar with heights, and now it must be decided who will try their hand at the summit.
